Delavan United Methodist Church 213 S. 2nd Street, Delavan (262) 728-3644
Delavan United Methodist Church is uniting with other Methodists on May 19-20 to change the world both locally and globally. Each church has their own project and their project is:
Shop, Stop & Drop: The church has an emergency food pantry that is open daily and supplements the main food pantry in Delavan which is open Saturdays. We invite people to shop, stop & drop off groceries any time to stock the UMC pantry. On May 19th & 20th 10am-2pm we will have people outside our new church entrance and invite the community to shop, stop & drop off their groceries to help fill our food pantry which will help feed our local community. We will also be collecting money to send in to Advance Special 3021190 "Imagine No Malaria" to buy nets at $10 each to help end malaria globally.
Our hope is to help change the world locally by raising awareness of the issues of poverty and hunger in our local community and collect food to keep our pantry filled year round to meet the needs of our local community. We hope to globally change the world by raising money to purchase nets used to prevent malaria.
This might be a great time to organize a school, neighborhood, work, or social club food drive to collect food for the drop and/or save some money each day to buy nets or come up with your own great ideas to share! Together we can change the world! The church is located at 213 S. 2nd Street in Delavan and is handicapped accessible. For more information call 728-3644 or visit them on facebook.

The 2012 Charity Ball event to benefit the House of Mercy Homeless Center is May 19!
The event will be held Saturday, May 19, at the Janesville Country Club, 2615 W. Memorial Dr., Janesville. The prestigious, black-tie invited evening will begin at 5 pm with a social hour, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, followed by a gourmet dinner, music and a live and silent auction.
The House of Mercy is a 25-bed homeless center that provides homeless families with short-term emergency shelter and access to housing, job placement and child care resources. Almost every day, the Center's 25 -bed capacity is filled-but with the generous support of our community, the doors to the House of Mercy will continue to remain open, helping those in need. Approximately $150,000 is needed to keep the House of Mercy operational each year. The donations received from the community and business members alike, help the House of Mercy Homeless Center address the root causes of homelessness in our area.

Plowing and Planting
With spring come annual rituals--cleaning house, planting gardens, preparing the farmsteads for the growing season, or taking time to honor those who've come before us. Join us as we kick off our 2012 season with these special spring weekends--including plenty of opportunities to lend a hand. During "Sheep and Shearing" (5/5 - 5/6), see our historic breeds of sheep--Merinos and Cotswolds--shorn by hand, feel the fleeces to understand the differences, and see them processed into yarn. Newborn lambs will be nearby awaiting their mamas' haircuts. On Mother's Day weekend, during "Women, Work and Reform" (5/12 - 5/13), see what other chores women would perform besides spring cleaning, all in our 1870s Crossroads Village. At "Plowing and Planting" (5/19 - 5/20), draft horses will pull plows and seeding equipment to start the growing season and we will offer horse-drawn wagon rides. Our gardeners also invite you to help plant the Sanford garden, as well as work in the Rankinen and Koepsell gardens this special weekend. During "Memorials and Remembrances" (5/26 - 5/27), veterans past and present will be honored.
